The Earth has four seasons, but what causes them?
Please write down what you think below without referring to any information.

Distance between Sun and Earth

  1. The four seasons happen because of the tilt of the Earth's axis. At different times of the year, the sun's rays hit different parts of the globe more directly.

The position of the earth in relation to the sun. The tilt of it's axis and something about its orbit : )

The four seasons are caused by the earth's rotation on its axis. Meaning when the northern hemisphere is tilted toward the sun while rotating on its axis its summer. At the same time, The southern hemisphere would be experiencing winter. the equator is year around warm because of the degree of tilt is not as significant the farther north or south one goes.

The four seasons happen because of the tilt of the Earth's axis. At different times of the year, the sun's rays hit different parts of the globe more directly. The angle of the Earth's axis tilts the Northern Hemisphere towards the sun during the summer.

The earth's axis tilts either toward the sun or away from the sun in a years time. When the north pole axis is tilted toward the sun the northern hemisphere experiences summer. When the north pole axis is tilted away from the sun the norther hemisphere experiences winter. Also explain to students that the south pole axis is just the opposite of the north pole. Summer in northern hemisphere is winter in the south, and vice versa.

The seasons depend on the tilt of the earth on its axis and also the sun's angle.
